Football Genius: The Ultimate Quiz Review
Do you and your mates like to discuss football? Do you have arguments on who has the most knowledge with football? You can now find out who the football genius is with the XBLA game...Football Genius. Is this game an A+ student, or does it sit in the back of the classroom with gum in its hair? Find out in our review.

Football Genius: The Ultimate Quiz is what the name says, it is the ultimate quiz about football (and for you readers in the States, I mean soccer). If you have played Scene-It, than you know exactly how Football Genius plays.

Football Genius can be played with up to four people, online or offline. I tried playing the game online, but nobody else was online, so I had to stick with the offline mode. As stated previously, Football Genius is a lot like Scene-It. You are asked a question, and you have a certain amount of time to answer the question. The quicker you answer the question, the more points you get. Except in Football Genius, you are asked questions about footy. Some questions are easy, like "Who won UEFA Euro 2008?" Most questions can be answered by somebody who has watched football for a few years. I never ran into any questions like "Who scored the opening goal in the 1974 World Cup?"

There are a bunch of varieties to the way questions are asked. One way has a picture that is scrambled, and as time goes on the picture becomes clearer, and when you think you know who is in the picture, you answer. One mode has you answering questions quickly by giving you two answers and they are the same two answers for every question in that round. For example, the answers will be Manchester United and Chelsea, and ask you questions like "Who plays in London?" or "Whose jerseys are red?" There are many different rounds where you get asked questions in unique ways, which keeps the game fresh and doesn't feel stale.

There really isn't much more to talk about, honestly. This is a simple review for a pretty simple game. If you are a football fan and love to have your football knowledge challenged, definitely get this game. It is currently running for 800 Microsoft Points on XBLA, which may sound steep, but considering that Scene-It goes for around $15 now, Football Genius is definitely a better deal. The game isn't bad, but there isn't anything to make it stand out. It is just kind of there, for your enjoyment.
